This Data Protection Policy "Web and Newsletter Privacy Policy" (hereinafter the “Policy”) sets out the terms and conditions of the processing of personal data made through the website www.icml.ch by the Foundation for the Institute of Oncology Research (IOR), a Swiss-based not-for-profit foundation, according to the Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) and the Ordinance to the Federal Act on Data Protection (OFADP).
This Policy:
- is intended for the website www.icml.ch (hereinafter "Website") and shall apply irrespective of any reference or link to this Policy;
- is an integral part of the Website and the ICML Newsletter subscription;
- is intended for those who interact with the web services of the Website and subscribe to the ICML Newsletter.
Please note that when a personal account is created in the MyICML platform, to participate in an event organized by the Foundation for the Institute of Oncology Research, the processing of the data is governed by the Data Protection Policies provided at the time of the account creation and registration.

The personal data processed through the Website could be the following:
1) Browsing data
During their normal operation, the computer systems and software procedures used to operate the Website acquire some personal data (in particular, your device’s IP address, user-agent of your browser, session duration, used services, activated links and messages, etc.).
This data is used, automatically and anonymously, only to consider introducing new features, to improve the quality of the offered services, to check the Website’s correct functioning, to monitor the Website's security, and to optimize the Website’s usability.
2) Cookies
To make our website work properly, we may place small data information called cookies on your browser. Our cookie policy can be found on the official website. You can set your cookies accordingly on our website, block third-party cookies, or prevent cross-website tracking via your web browser settings, and/or use ad-blocking software.
3) Google Analytics
We make use of Google Analytics to gather statistics about the usage of our homepage to improve the usability and the content we serve.
Google Analytics is a web analysis service provided by Google Inc. (“Google”). Google utilizes the Data collected to track and examine the use of our homepage, to prepare reports on its activities, and to share them with other Google services. Google may use the Data collected to contextualize and personalize the ads of its advertising network.
4) Email address (newsletter subscription)
If you give your consent to receive the newsletter, your email address will be used for sending the newsletter about the International Conference on Malignant Lymphoma or other events organized by the Foundation for the Institute of Oncology Research, American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) meetings on malignant lymphoma and European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) events/activities related to a hematological topic.
You can withdraw your consent by clicking the "Unsubscribe" link at the bottom of each newsletter.
The Website does not keep Personal Data, besides those described in the previous sections.
The Website may include links to third-party websites, services, and other Internet resources. By no means is the Controller responsible for contents from these websites and resources, their security, and their usability. The Controller does not review, nor does it make any representations on third-party privacy and personal data protection. Details on the handling of your personal data by third-party providers can be found in the respective data protection notices, e.g. of Google, Salesforce, Facebook, Adobe, Captify, and Capture Media. Controller's data protection provisions do not apply to data processing by these external providers.
The data collected by Google/Facebook may be transmitted by the former to countries outside of Switzerland and the EEA, in particular to the USA. If you have a Google/Facebook account, you can adjust the corresponding privacy settings in your account.
As part of the management of the Website and related resources (web designs, maintenance, and hosting), the Controller relies on external goods and/or service providers operating in Switzerland and France. These external providers have access to data only to the extent necessary to perform their duties and are subject to the acceptance of a data processing agreement containing an obligation of confidentiality and non-use concerning your Personal Data.
The Website is protected by reasonable and proportionate security measures as required by the need for the protection of Personal Data processed to ensure confidentiality, availability, integrity, and traceability. In any case, considering the Internet is an “open network”, the Controller cannot guarantee, nor does it so, that data is not intercepted or captured by unauthorized third parties.
You are granted the rights set forth in Section 25 et seq. of the FADP and Section 16 et seq. of the Data Protection Ordinance.
In particular, you may request from the Controller access to the data, their deletion, the rectification of inaccurate data, integration of incomplete data, as well as the restriction of processing in the cases provided for in Section 25 et seq. FADP and Section 32 FADP.
You also have the right to receive in a usual electronic format your Personal Data or to demand its transmission to another data controller in the event that the conditions for the exercise of the right to have the Data delivered or to demand its transmission to a third party are met, as provided for in Section 28 FADP.
The Data Controller will use reasonable efforts to give you the requested information within 30 days (or will notify you of the period within which the information may be provided) and free of charge. A fee could be charged if the provision of the information involves a disproportionate burden.

You may also file actions concerning the protection of personality by requesting the prohibition of specific processing of Data, prohibition of the disclosure of Data to third parties, and deletion or destruction of Data, as provided for in Section 32(2) FADP.
