Lugano is the largest town in Canton Ticino, the Italian-speaking part of Switzerland. Close to the Italian border, it’s well connected by motorway and railway networks to Milan Malpensa and Zurich airports. The Ticino region offers different landscape scenic views from the north, where the Alps are prominent, to the south, where two beautiful lakes, the Ceresio (also known as "Lugano lake") and Maggiore, are situated.
Lugano is a lively centre of arcaded streets and squares full of cafés. It is the third largest financial city in Switzerland but also well-known for its parks and gardens on the banks of the Ceresio, which is bordered by palm trees, camellias and magnolias.
